Durdur Goes International

Awesome Tapes From Africa (ATFA) is planning to release the Somali band Durdur's Volume 5 on February 5, 2013. ATFA offers the following track from the album:

On this occasion, I'd like to let Durdur speak for themselves by sharing the two tracks below. They come from a 25-year-old tape that fought/survived many battles - hence the scarred sonic quality. But the music is imo good and the main reason why I uploaded them lies in the titles.

Durdur_Degdeg ("Hie Thee")

Durdur_Raaxayso ("Enjoy")

  2. Any chance of uploading the rest of the cassette or just some more tracks? - Dur-Dur were one of the greatest funk bands I have ever heard - some of the videos on youtube are simply outrageous - we need more!

Thanks for your efforts - loving this blog!

    1. According to the grapevine telegraph, they're trying to make a come back and I don't want to hamper them by uploading the whole album on a public space. You can mail me for a private link.

  3. Thanks. I saw your liner notes of DurDur Band's Vol.5. I'm sorry but it's full of factual inaccuracies. You'd have asked another expert to proofread it.

    1. They indeed contain some errors but imo they're quite good. Anyway, I didn't write or proofread them and I don't know who did. I declined a request to write the LN coz of my limited knowledge about Durdur and the dialects they often sing in.
